Back taxes and unfiled returns

If you have years you haven’t filed, or letters you haven’t opened, Night Ledger can help you catch up, from 4 PM to 2 AM Pacific, Monday through Saturday, and seven days a week during tax season.

What if I haven’t filed for a few years?

It’s more common than you’d think, and it can be fixed. We prepare prior-year returns for individuals and businesses, and help you work out where things stand. There’s no lecture waiting for you.

Can you deal with the IRS for me?

Yes. Enrolled Agents are admitted to represent taxpayers before the IRS in every state. With your authorization, an Enrolled Agent can speak with the IRS on your behalf, so you aren’t the one on the phone.

What can you help with?

  • Returns you never filed
  • Notices and letters from the IRS
  • Payment arrangements with the IRS
  • Representation before the IRS

Is there a time limit on claiming an old refund?

Generally, yes. If you were owed a refund for a year you didn’t file, you usually have three years from that return’s original due date to claim it. After that, the refund is generally lost. Tax you owe does not expire the same way, which is another reason not to leave old years open.

What should I have ready?

Whatever you have. Any tax forms you kept, the last return you filed, and any letters from the IRS. If records are missing, we can often work out what the IRS has on file for you. Please don’t send letters or tax documents through this website or by email.

When can I book?

Appointments open soon. They will run from 4 PM to 2 AM Pacific, Monday through Saturday. During tax season, appointments are available seven days a week. In the meantime, our FAQ answers the questions people ask most.
